gab blocker, self-promo
new gab instance popped up, time to shill for my project!
this script automagically pulls new gab instances as they pop up on fediverse.network (similar to how @gabwatch does) and instance blocks them for you!
if you're an admin and have access to the server your mastodon instance is running on, you can run it there to automatically block all gab sites for your entire instance!
if you're a user and dont mind getting your hands dirty with using ruby and installing some dependencies, it'll block all known gab instances for you at the user level!
i tried to make the readme very approachable and easy to understand, but if you have any questions feel free to @ me here.
thanks for reading, and stay safe friends ❤️❤️
It doesn't require an account, does everything with email and link-capability security, and autodeletes events 2 days after they're over, and it looks really beautiful.
No need to use Facebook for this anymore!
Can we please stop using this proprietary US based service for libre software projects now?

This women is brave
We should all be that brave!
I got this shot of her yesterday. She was furious and fearless. (@GettyImages@twitter.com) https://twitter.com/stegersaurus/status/1155335981781794816
Hey fedi- I used to work at a thrift store; and if you are donating some old books, here are some that aren't worth the resources spent transporting, sorting, and pricing them because they just don't sell:
- best seller novels like HP, Twilight, The Hunger Games, etc. So many of these are donated that most don't move
- self-help books, especially best sellers, for the same reason
- Chicken Soup for anyone's soul
thank you and boosts +
Microsoft owned GitHub banned all Iranian users. All accounts are restricted now.
What is Github?
GitHub is home to over 36 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together.
If you want people to find your public posts on Mastodon or the rest of the Fediverse, there's something important you need to know:
📣 USE HASHTAGS!
For privacy reasons, the only way to search for posts on here is by hashtag. If you don't include tags, no one will see your post in searches.
Did any of you check out the excerpt of the book I'm working on that I posted yesterday? https://bnolet.me/posts/2019/07/hacker-comm/
It's nothing SUPER exciting, but I'm trying to get back into writing it. I might continue to write random scenes from the book if there's enough interest
I'm also looking for feedback, boosts encouraged
Everyone: go get your check from Equifax!
$125 is a nice chunk of change.
Get that money and pay off a bill, sock it away, take a day off, treat yourself, whatever you’d like - but cash 👏🏿 that 👏🏽 check! 👏🏻
💸 It takes one minute. Do it here 💸: https://eligibility.equifaxbreachsettlement.com/en/eligibility https://twitter.com/cnbc/status/1154849201823637509
With this heat, I put out water for cats who can’t or won’t go inside - my cat’s can (but like it outside), but some other cats may not be able to. Probably the hedgehog who lives in our backyard also drinks from it and maybe birds or insects.
Also when I saw the mailman, I opened the door, offered him a glass of water and filled up his water bottle.
Not saying this to brag, but hoping others do the same. Also: if you have more ideas on how to help people and animals, I’d love to hear them.
